Diagnostics & Laboratory
Child‑friendly imaging and laboratory services that give clear answers quickly, using technology and techniques tailored for children.
Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward the right treatment. Krishna Children’s Hospital offers in‑house X‑ray, ultrasound, CT scans, and full laboratory services designed specifically for babies, children, and teenagers. Child‑sized equipment, low‑radiation protocols, and gentle staff help reduce fear while giving doctors the precise information they need
X‑ray imaging
X‑rays help doctors see inside a child’s body to check bones, lungs, and other structures after injuries or illness. At Krishna Children’s Hospital, digital X‑ray systems use carefully adjusted, low‑dose settings suitable for growing bodies, while still producing clear images. Radiographers explain each step in simple language, position children gently, and work efficiently to minimise the time your child spends in the imaging room. Results are reviewed by clinicians experienced in pediatric conditions and are available quickly so that treatment decisions are not delayed.
Ultrasound scans
Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, to create moving pictures of organs, blood flow, and soft tissues. It is especially useful for the abdomen, kidneys, hips, brain in newborns, and many other pediatric conditions. During the scan, gel is applied to the skin and a small probe is moved gently over the area being examined. Most children feel only slight pressure and can stay with a parent throughout the procedure. Ultrasound helps doctors investigate pain, swelling, infections, and developmental concerns in a safe, non‑invasive way.
CT scan
A CT (computed tomography) scan combines X‑rays with computer processing to create detailed cross‑sectional images of the body. It can show bones, organs, and blood vessels more clearly than a standard X‑ray and is especially useful in emergencies, head injuries, and complex neurological or chest problems. Because CT uses more radiation than an X‑ray, the team follows strict pediatric protocols to keep exposure as low as reasonably possible while still obtaining the information doctors need. Scans are fast, and sedation is considered only when absolutely necessary for very young or anxious children.
Laboratory Tests
The in‑house laboratory provides a comprehensive range of blood, urine, stool, and other tests to support diagnosis and ongoing care. Pediatric‑trained staff follow child‑friendly blood‑collection techniques and work to keep waiting times short, especially for sick or fasting children. From routine checks such as blood counts and infection markers to more specialised panels for metabolic, hormonal, or neurological conditions, results are integrated directly into each child’s treatment plan so that doctors and parents can act quickly and confidently.
